Do you lack inspiration for writing?

I’ve spent the last few weeks engaged in the most uninspiring of tasks – deep cleaning. It’s an annual requirement before making our Dorchester home available for holiday lets while we escape to the bright lights of London. During this busy period of cleaning, it’s been hard to find any time or inspiration for writing, so I’ve resorted to an old resource to help with this writing prompt. Contained in a tin box labelled Best Ever Dinner Party Ice Breakers are small cards with a variety of questions. Here are five of them, let’s see if they spark a creative idea for writing:

  • What’s the longest you’ve ever waited in line?
  • What’s the most disgusting thing you’ve ever eaten?
  • Which modern convenience should never have been invented?
  • What’s the weirdest thing you brought home when you were a child?
  • What’s the longest you’ve gone without sleep?

Do any of these questions chime with you? If so, go wild and write a new piece of fiction or memoir.
