I heard a piece on the news yesterday and haven’t stopped thinking about it. I need to work it out, so it’s going here in a Pensive.
SEPTA story
It goes without saying that there are multiple layers of horrible involved in this incident. I've also been thinking a lot about inequality and social justice. It's hard not to when we're in a global pandemic that's hitting low-income people, low-income countries, and people of color and other vulnerable communities disproportionately hard. Climate change is having the same effects, as do many other societal problems.
So, my prompts today arise from this news piece and these thoughts. Choose one or more of the following:
- Write a fiction piece about a crime where witnesses fail to act. What is the fallout?
- Write a fiction piece about a crime where witnesses step in. What actions do they take? How does that work out?
- Write about one societal problem you would like to see fixed. Write about a world where it’s been fixed.
- For the poets out there, write a poem using all of the following words: humanity, hunger, equality, power, greed, redemption, disease, freedom.
I tried to pick some low/mixed/high prompts here.

I’m glad this post inspired you to write a poem, Sue. I read it there and love it.
A disturbing story, Kimberly, but a good series of prompts. I’ve written you a little story in response to the first prompt – posted “behind the curtain” on the private forum.
I have also posted in the private forum. An interesting and thought-provoking pensive, Kimberly. Thank you
