Pens Around the World, our international, on-line group of writers writing in English, is excited to be publishing our first book. The Anthology collects writing by twelve of our members, and six guests, from our first five years.

Of course you know (because you are reading this!) that Pens Around the World publishes a public blog post every week. These are usually written by our members on a rota. We also find occasional space to feature guest blog posts from friends and acquaintances who are not members of our group.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, in our private forums, we share ideas, problems and solutions, opportunities and achievements. We write together in chain stories. We share our writing-in-progress for feedback and constructive criticism.

We are a group of writers who live away from where we started. Some of us left by choice, some by chance, some for love, work, family, or curiosity. All of us stayed away long enough for distance to change us. So says the introduction to our Anthology. We are all very different people, in very different parts of the world, but we share a way of seeing: slightly angled, double-focused, shaped by living between places rather than rooted in one.

Pens Around the World: An Anthology draws from five years of our writing, public and private, that reflects this way of seeing. When we were discussing what to do about any royalties we might receive from the Anthology, we quickly realised that sharing them out between all eighteen of us was going to be a waste of time.
